Students can bring positive social change through social work : Prof. Pawan Singh
FARIDABAD NEWS 19 FEB 2026 : GAUTAM : The Department of Communication and Media Technology at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, organized a special expert lecture titled ‘Social Work: Profession with a Purpose.’ The primary objective of the event was to enlighten Social Work students about the nuances of the field and how to integrate a professional approach with a spirit of service.
Addressing the students as the keynote speaker, expert Dharmendra Pandey emphasized that social work is not merely a career but a path to living a purposeful life. A professional social worker is one who knows how to balance empathy with scientific methodology, he stated. He further noted that as social problems become increasingly complex, youth must reach the last person in society using a blend of modern technology and human values.
In his welcome address, Chairperson Prof. Pawan Singh highlighted that media and social work are complementary fields. He remarked, The department’s goal is not just to provide bookish knowledge but to prepare students for real-world challenges. Such sessions help students understand how to drive positive social transformation through their careers. He added that the university regularly invites industry experts to ensure the holistic development of its students.
The program was organized under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar and the co-patronage of Dean (FLAMES) Prof. Anuradha Sharma. Assistant Professor and Coordinator Rajan Prakash played a key role in the successful execution of the event.
Held in the Media Lab, the lecture saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of Social Work students. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A round where students discussed field-work challenges with Mr. Pandey, followed by a formal vote of thanks.
